Beyonce Leads BET Nominees, Jamie Foxx Named Host
The BET Awards were established to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment - and this year’s nominees were recently announced.
Coming in as no surprise, Beyonce Knowles is atop the pack by landing 5 nominations including two in the Best Video category for “Single Ladies” and “If I Were A Boy,” the Viewer’s Choice category, Best Female R&B, and also for Best Female Actress.
Rapper T.I. will be giving the “Crazy in Love” songstress a run for her money, as he too has been nominated for 5 awards - with one of them being the Viewer’s Choice.
The awards show, which always airs live, will be hosted by Jamie Foxx this year, and will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on June 28.

Beyonce plans a two-year career break
Singer Beyonce Knowles is reportedly planning a two-year break from her work to focus on her private life.
Beyonce, who recently got married to rap mogul Jay-Z, will be taking time off from work after she wraps up her current tour.
The Ava Maria hitmaker, who has not been able to spend quality time with her husband Jay-Z, will be focusing on her family life after wrapping up her European 'Iam Sasha Fierce' tour.
"My priorities are slowly changing. So after this tour I might take two years off. I've worked hard enough to be able to do that," The Daily Star quoted Beyonce as telling Marie Claire magazine.
"We (Knowles and Jay-Z) try to synch our calendars. I started working on my tour a year ago to make sure I had time at home," she added.

The Carters will be showing out in Las Vegas when they hit the strip to perform.
Beyoncé’s got a four-date engagement on the strip at the Wynn’s Encore from July 30 to August 2. She’s filling in for comedian Danny Gans, who recently passed away.
But before Bey takes the stage in Vegas, her hubby, Jay-Z, will be spiting a few bars at the Palms Resort Casino. The rapper-turned-mogul will be doing two shows at The Pearl on July 3 and July 4.
The dates are part of a mini tour of intimate performances he’ll be doing while he works on his next album, The Blueprint 3.
After Vegas, it’s off to Chicago’s Charter One Pavilion and the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. He’ll be wrapping the tour in Atlanta at the Chastain Park Amphitheatre.
Ciara will be warming up the crowd for him at certain stops on the tour.

Review: 'Obsessed'
It's no 'Fatal Attraction,' but when Beyoncé's in the room, you'll hardly care.
It would be easy shorthand to describe "Obsessed" as "Fatal Attraction" with more diverse casting, but that wouldn't be entirely true. This new thriller, though a glossy, perfectly serviceable time-passer, lacks both the heat and the moral ambiguity that made the 1980s classic so compellingly complex.
That's mainly because the liaison here between Idris Elba's sturdy asset manager Derek and gorgeous office temp/delusional stalker Lisa (Ali Larter) never becomes as irrefutable as the Michael Douglas-Glenn Close attraction that proved so, well, fatal. This one's a lot more one-sided, which, for better or worse, makes Derek more safely sympathetic than Douglas' straying Dan.
Derek and Lisa's relationship, like much else in "Obsessed," is short on dimension and subtlety, but it turns into a mess believable enough to keep us invested.
Director Steve Shill, working from David Loughery's utilitarian script, moves things along quickly and efficiently, providing a requisite number of tense, squirm-inducing moments along the way.
Then there's Beyoncé Knowles, who literally and figuratively kicks butt as Sharon, Derek's hot, forthright wife. The singer-actress' saucy, glamorously wry performance makes up for some of the film's inherent predictability.
t's probably worth seeing "Obsessed" with a big audience just to experience the Beyoncé mania that is bound to erupt during the movie's crowd-pleasing finale.

Beyoncé will soon be collaborating on new material with Adele - a tabloid has claimed.
The Bootylicious singer will be heading to the UK in May for an arena tour and while she is on these shores, she'll be hitting the studio with the 'Chasing Pavements' star.
A source tells The Sun: "Beyonce loves Adele's voice and her music, and Adele is really excited - she grew up listening to Destiny's Child and they are still her favourite group. It's her dream to record with Beyonce."

It was the country’s biggest-ever indoor gig and Miss Knowles was on top form, bursting on stage with her massive hit Crazy In Love.
After her gold leotard for the opening number came TEN other outfits, including glow-in-the-dark undercrackers and a bondage-style leather dress.
Highlights included her hits Irreplaceable, Single Ladies and If I Were A Boy.
The five-time Grammy Award winner swung through the air 30ft up, danced along a runway that reached into the middle of the crowd and flashed images of Barack Obama on to a big screen.
Backstage after the show, her dad and manager Matthew Knowles gushed with pride about his girl – and revealed a comeback for her old band Destiny’s Child is on the cards.
He said: “I couldn’t believe the audience’s response to the Destiny’s Child hits she sang. They went wild. A new tour could happen within three years. They wouldn’t even need to release new material.”
When Beyonce’s European tour hits the UK next month, she also plans to fit in studio time with Brit star Adele to record some songs together.

Beyonce I Am Tour: take over last night In Zagreb, Croatia
Last night, Beyoncé kicked off the European leg of her I Am… Tour in Zagreb, Croatia!
On Sunday night, just before midnight, Beyonce said farewell to Zagreb’s public.
“You were great, thank you so much. I will come here again whenever you want” said Beyonce and left the stage with a big smile on her face.
The designer Thierry Mugler has thought of some excellent creations for Beyonce. She looked fragile in white, dangerous in black, and in gold she was fiery and uninhibited. Zagreb has not had the opportunity to see such a concert that Beyonce held until now. The background featured one huge and two small screens so that even those in the back row could see the big, but humble star. There was certainly something to see. Where should we start? Beyonce sings just as well as in her studio albums, and her energetic performance with attractive dancers and choreography simply hypnotises you.
Besides attracting attention with her luxurious body and fantastic clothing by designer Thierry Mugler, Beyonce radiates an incredible energy that can be felt when the strong, self confident and aggressive Sasha gets into her, which is what Beyonce likes to call herself when she is on stage.
But considering that Sasha Fierce brought along B for the concert, Zagreb’s full Arena enjoyed the live performance of nearly all of her most famous ballads, and the song “At Last” during which the screens showed Barack and Michelle Obama dancing during the inauguration. Beyonce sung every song and visually presented it in an incredible way. It is hard to describe, you have to experience it.

Beyoncé can take a joke that she can’t sing. But the songstress wonders why the media can’t.
The seven-time Grammy winner made headlines last week after a audio clip of her singing “If I Were a Boy” on the “Today” show surfaced online. But her vocals weren’t quite as smooth as silk — Matthew Zeghibe, a Connecticut college student/prankster, had altered the diva’s pitch and turned her performance into an off-key screech-fest. After countless YouTube hits and a hefty helping of press, Zeghibe came forward to say it was all in good fun — and Beyoncé agrees.
“I knew it was a joke. I knew it was supposed to be silly,” the beauty said at the Cinema Society/MCM premiere of her film, “Obsessed.” “Something like that I don’t even take seriously. I thought it was hilarious.”
Howard Stern found it hilarious, too. But when he played the clip on his Sirius show, the shock jock thought it was a legit recording — and that’s what really shocked B.
“The craziest thing was journalists were asking me about it when they hadn’t even listened to it,” Beyoncé said. “If you had heard it, it was obviously a hoax! More than anything, it’s amazing that someone can do something so obviously funny, and have the whole world take it the wrong way.”
Touché.
Besides, Beyoncé is more content to focus on her acting career at the moment. As the lead role in
“Obsessed,” Knowles plays a woman who has to defend her family and husband from a crazy stalker who’s taken with her hubby.
“To prepare, I tried to tap into things that are available to a lot of people,” she said. “I thought about my sister and what it would be like if someone were threatening her child. I used my life experiences and my nephew to get my mind right.”
Ali Larter, who plays the maniacal stalker, has a cringe-worthy brawl with Beyoncé during the flick.
“Our fight scene was so fun!” Larter told us.
Um, fun? We were terrified.
“Good!” Larter said. “We went all the way to make sure it looked real. I was bruised all over, scraped up. That’s the fun of it! Neither of us are girls who phone things in.”
As for any real-life obsessions, “Oh, I have many,” Beyoncé laughed. “I love to make my own little movies. I spend most of my time putting together footage I’ve shot and editing it. I do that a lot.”

I Am Tour - Zagreb

Beyonce Catfight thriller 'Obsessed' claws way to No. 1
LOS ANGELES - Ladies, ladies, please! We don't have to tear each other apart in the name of love or jealousy or territory or fame.
But when we do, people will watch - as they did this past weekend, when the thriller "Obsessed" scratched and clawed its way to the top of the box office.
Featuring Beyonce Knowles as a wife whose marriage is threatened by another woman (Ali Larter) and propelled by a furniture-smashing catfight between the two sexy stars, "Obsessed" made a surprising $28.5 million in its opening weekend.
So what is it about the catfight that's so irresistible? Maybe it's all that animalistic physical contact - the slapping and grappling, the hair-pulling and body-slamming - which is so passionate, it seems to hold the promise that the women involved just might end up kissing afterward.
It's a long and not-so-proud pop culture tradition. Some choice examples:
-Linda Evans vs. Joan Collins on "Dynasty": Pretty much the gold standard for shlock - the defining guilty-pleasure moment in a series notorious for them. You know the back story: Krystle (Evans) is wealthy Blake Carrington's wife, Alexis (Collins) is his vicious ex. Lots of girly pushing and splashing in the lily pond until Krystle starts repeatedly punching Alexis in the face. Thankfully, the shoulder pads on their dresses can be used as flotation devices.
-Denise Richards vs. Neve Campbell in "Wild Things": This is, like, the ultimate male fantasy because it truly is a hair-yanking, swimming-pool catfight that evolves into a make-out session. The naughty rich girl (Richards) and the naughty poor girl (Campbell) smack each other - hard - but their sapphic tendencies, and their joint interest in framing Matt Dillon for rape, bring them together.
-Sigourney Weaver vs. the Alien Queen in "Aliens": Such a famous movie moment, they even turned it into a DirecTV commercial. Weaver climbs inside a big, clunky, metal loader to take on the mama alien whose sweet little hatchlings have been causing so much carnage. The line she growls at the start - "Get away from her, you bitch!" - is a classic.
-Michelle Yeoh vs. Zhang Ziyi in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon": OK, so maybe this doesn't qualify as a catfight in the traditional sense. As part of a film that won four Academy Awards, including the foreign-language award, it's too classy, too artsy, too elegant. But it does feature two gorgeous women trying to destroy each other, albeit with exquisite choreography.
-Shirley MacLaine vs. Anne Bancroft in "The Turning Point": Two veteran actresses square off as former friends and ballerinas in this 1977 drama. MacLaine's Deedee, who gave up her career to have a family, is the mother of Emelia, a promising young dancer herself. Bancroft's Emma is a fading star who latches onto Emelia and lives vicariously through the girl's fresh success. Years of resentments explode when the two women go at it in front of the theatre on Emelia's opening night.
-Lois Griffin vs. Gloria Ironbox on "Family Guy": Lois feels threatened when ultra-PC sensitivity trainer Gloria (voiced by Candice Bergen) taps into Peter's previously undiscovered sensitive side. But she turns violent when Gloria condescendingly questions her choice to be a stay-at-home mom. The ensuing fight is so hot, it snaps Peter back into his horny, doltish self.
- Miley Cyrus vs. Tyra Banks in "Hannah Montana: The Movie": Not quite a classic, but curiously it does reflect the depths to which these multimedia multimillionaires will stoop to get a laugh. The cause of their catfight? Shoes, of course - a pair both women want, and there's only one left in the store in their size. Because shoes are the only thing in a woman's life worth fighting for.
-Kate Hudson vs. Anne Hathaway in "Bride Wars": Not exactly a classic either, but blissfully it signals the climax of this shrill comedy about best friends who plan their dream weddings at the same place on the same day. A screechy frenzy of hair and veils and silk. But naturally, Hudson and Hathaway's characters find a way to hug and make up for a forced, feel-good ending.
-Melissa Gilbert vs. Alison Arngrim on "Little House on the Prairie": This one had been percolating for a long time. Their hatred finally boils over when that mean old Nellie (Arngrim) misleads Laura (Gilbert) about the content of a history test. But hunky Almanzo rides up in his carriage just in time to pull the girls apart and restore peace in Walnut Grove.
But when we do, people will watch - as they did this past weekend, when the thriller "Obsessed" scratched and clawed its way to the top of the box office.
Featuring Beyonce Knowles as a wife whose marriage is threatened by another woman (Ali Larter) and propelled by a furniture-smashing catfight between the two sexy stars, "Obsessed" made a surprising $28.5 million in its opening weekend.
So what is it about the catfight that's so irresistible? Maybe it's all that animalistic physical contact - the slapping and grappling, the hair-pulling and body-slamming - which is so passionate, it seems to hold the promise that the women involved just might end up kissing afterward.
It's a long and not-so-proud pop culture tradition. Some choice examples:
-Linda Evans vs. Joan Collins on "Dynasty": Pretty much the gold standard for shlock - the defining guilty-pleasure moment in a series notorious for them. You know the back story: Krystle (Evans) is wealthy Blake Carrington's wife, Alexis (Collins) is his vicious ex. Lots of girly pushing and splashing in the lily pond until Krystle starts repeatedly punching Alexis in the face. Thankfully, the shoulder pads on their dresses can be used as flotation devices.
-Denise Richards vs. Neve Campbell in "Wild Things": This is, like, the ultimate male fantasy because it truly is a hair-yanking, swimming-pool catfight that evolves into a make-out session. The naughty rich girl (Richards) and the naughty poor girl (Campbell) smack each other - hard - but their sapphic tendencies, and their joint interest in framing Matt Dillon for rape, bring them together.
-Sigourney Weaver vs. the Alien Queen in "Aliens": Such a famous movie moment, they even turned it into a DirecTV commercial. Weaver climbs inside a big, clunky, metal loader to take on the mama alien whose sweet little hatchlings have been causing so much carnage. The line she growls at the start - "Get away from her, you bitch!" - is a classic.
-Michelle Yeoh vs. Zhang Ziyi in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon": OK, so maybe this doesn't qualify as a catfight in the traditional sense. As part of a film that won four Academy Awards, including the foreign-language award, it's too classy, too artsy, too elegant. But it does feature two gorgeous women trying to destroy each other, albeit with exquisite choreography.
-Shirley MacLaine vs. Anne Bancroft in "The Turning Point": Two veteran actresses square off as former friends and ballerinas in this 1977 drama. MacLaine's Deedee, who gave up her career to have a family, is the mother of Emelia, a promising young dancer herself. Bancroft's Emma is a fading star who latches onto Emelia and lives vicariously through the girl's fresh success. Years of resentments explode when the two women go at it in front of the theatre on Emelia's opening night.
-Lois Griffin vs. Gloria Ironbox on "Family Guy": Lois feels threatened when ultra-PC sensitivity trainer Gloria (voiced by Candice Bergen) taps into Peter's previously undiscovered sensitive side. But she turns violent when Gloria condescendingly questions her choice to be a stay-at-home mom. The ensuing fight is so hot, it snaps Peter back into his horny, doltish self.
- Miley Cyrus vs. Tyra Banks in "Hannah Montana: The Movie": Not quite a classic, but curiously it does reflect the depths to which these multimedia multimillionaires will stoop to get a laugh. The cause of their catfight? Shoes, of course - a pair both women want, and there's only one left in the store in their size. Because shoes are the only thing in a woman's life worth fighting for.
-Kate Hudson vs. Anne Hathaway in "Bride Wars": Not exactly a classic either, but blissfully it signals the climax of this shrill comedy about best friends who plan their dream weddings at the same place on the same day. A screechy frenzy of hair and veils and silk. But naturally, Hudson and Hathaway's characters find a way to hug and make up for a forced, feel-good ending.
-Melissa Gilbert vs. Alison Arngrim on "Little House on the Prairie": This one had been percolating for a long time. Their hatred finally boils over when that mean old Nellie (Arngrim) misleads Laura (Gilbert) about the content of a history test. Beyoncé’s “I Am”…World Tour in Croatia – Video
Beyoncé arrived in Zagreb, Croatia yesterday, where she continued her “I Am…” World Tour. This show is the very first stop in Europe that she’s made for this 2009 tour. Tomorrow, she’ll be hitting the stage in Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria. For a list of the dates for the European part of the tour, check out the schedule, here.
The videos aren’t the best quality and there weren’t as many of them as before, but I thought it’d be fun to have a little taste of the concert anyways. Enjoy!
